Questions schools ask about Assessment

Do teachers have to enter the same assessment information again in SchoolWise?

No.

Term or house assessments can come from your MIS, while teachers can also bring in assessment from Microsoft Teams or Google, or enter classroom assessments directly when they do not already exist elsewhere.

The aim is not to make teachers recreate work they have already done. It is to bring that assessment into a place where it can be used more effectively.

What does Gradebook give teachers back?

Gradebook gives teachers a working view of their own classes, learners and assessment information.

They can see current performance, recent assessment history, whether a learner is improving, declining or steady, and compare individual performance with the wider class.

That same view can also bring in learner support, AEN, targets and other appropriate learner context — so assessment is not sitting on its own.

Can SchoolWise use assessment from Microsoft Teams or Google Classroom?

Yes.

Teachers can choose which assessment information they want to bring into SchoolWise from Microsoft Teams or Google Classroom.

That means they can keep using the tools they already work with while bringing selected assessment into Gradebook for wider analysis and learner context.

How does Gradebook connect assessment with learner support and AEN?

Gradebook does more than show grades.

When a learner has support in place, teachers can see that context alongside the assessment picture. Depending on their role and access, they can see support-plan information, AEN context and the targets they are helping the learner work towards.

That helps the teacher understand the learner around the grade, not just the number itself.

How does assessment feed into Academic Tracking?

Assessment provides the attainment picture that Academic Tracking can then investigate more deeply.

SchoolWise can use assessment information to help identify learners who may not be reaching their potential, look for patterns across subjects and assessments, and then bring in the wider learner context when the school needs to understand what may be happening.

So assessment does not end in Gradebook. It becomes part of the wider academic tracking and support process.

Can teachers use Gradebook for parent-teacher meetings?

Yes.

Gradebook and learner performance reporting give teachers a clearer picture of recent assessment, progress and performance over time.

Instead of relying on a single grade or pulling information together from several places, the teacher can use the learner’s assessment history and wider context to support a more informed conversation.
